Portrait Studio (listed on the App Store as Portra Pic and Portra Studio) is provided by Umit Kaya. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Portrait Studio mobile application.
Information Collection and Use
Portrait Studio is designed with privacy in mind.
- The app does not require account creation
- The app does not collect or store your photos, or any personal information, on its own servers
- Most image editing features run fully locally on your device
For certain AI-powered features (such as hair colour, AI headshots, anime and cartoon styles, face enhancement, and background removal), the photo you choose is sent to a third-party AI service for processing, as described below.
Face Data
Portrait Studio is a photo editor, and the photos you edit usually contain faces. This section explains exactly what the app does with them.
What face data the app uses
- On-device face detection. Before an AI portrait feature runs, the app uses Apple's Vision framework on your device to check that the photo contains a face and that the face is large enough to edit. This produces only the position and size of the face in the image. It does not create a face template, facial landmarks, a biometric identifier, or any data that could recognise you. The result is used once, in memory, and is never stored or sent anywhere.
- The photo itself. When you use an AI feature, the photo you selected (which may show your face) is uploaded to process that one request. No face measurements, depth data, or Face ID data are collected, and the app does not use the TrueDepth camera or ARKit face tracking.
How face data is used
Photos are used only to produce the edit you asked for and return the result to your device. Portrait Studio does not use your photos or face data for identification, advertising, analytics, profiling, or to train any model, and does not sell or share them for any other purpose.
Who receives it
- DeepAI (deepai.org, United States) is our AI processing provider. It processes your photos for the AI features listed above and returns the result to your device. See the DeepAI Privacy Policy.
- We have turned off DeepAI's options for AI model training and product improvement, third-party sharing, and personalised advertising on our DeepAI account.
Photos are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and are not linked to your name, Apple ID, or any account.
Storage and retention
- Portrait Studio stores your original and edited photos only on your device, in the app's own storage and in your photo library if you choose to save them.
- Portrait Studio keeps no copy of your photos or face data on any server it controls, and keeps no history of uploads.
- Any copy held by DeepAI is governed by the DeepAI Privacy Policy, which says it keeps personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected for.
Deletion
- Deleting an edit in the app's Saved screen, or deleting the app, removes everything Portrait Studio stored on your device.
- To ask DeepAI to delete an uploaded photo, contact team@deepai.org. You can also contact us at the address below and we will make the request for you.
Usage Analytics, Purchases and Advertising
- Google Analytics for Firebase records anonymous usage events (for example, which features are opened) linked to a random app instance identifier. It never receives your photos.
- Cloud Firestore stores a daily count of AI uses per device, linked to an anonymous device identifier, to enforce the free daily limit. It never receives your photos.
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions. It receives purchase information and an anonymous app user identifier, never your photos.
- Google AdMob shows ads to free users and may use device and usage information to do so, as described in the Google advertising policy. The app does not request permission to track you, so AdMob does not receive your advertising identifier. AdMob never receives your photos.
Local Processing
Image previews, filters, visual effects, borders, and overlay editing operate entirely on-device and do not transmit data.
Log Data
In case of an app error or crash, diagnostic data (device type, OS version, crash logs) may be collected for performance improvement only. This is not used to identify users.
Children's Privacy
Portrait Studio does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and take effect immediately.
